How do I troubleshoot a broken appliance?

For most newer appliances this can be an involved process. You can give us a call and we can guide you through a few simple processes to see if you would be able to fix yourself.

How much does it typically cost to repair an appliance?

Accepted Answer

You will be paying a diagnostic trip charge, plus labor and the cost of a part for the repair if needed. Since each appliance is different you would need to give us a call and we  could give you a clear estimate.

How long will it take to repair my appliance?

Accepted Answer

The time to repair usually depends on how soon we can get the part needed to fix the issue. We can usually get out to diagnose within a day or two. If no part is needed we can have the appliance repaired that day

How can I prevent future breakdowns on my appliance.?

Accepted Answer

On refrigerators make sure condenser coils are clean. If door gaskets develop a crack and don’t seal it needs to be repaired immediately. On dryers you must keep the vent cleaned and clean filter screen before each cycle. On dishwashers scrape all excess food on plates before loading. Use a name brand detergent and clean filter if available every 3 months. On washers DO NOT overload, run two smaller loads. The tub bearings on these new washers have a life cycle and consistently overloading will cause a premature failure. If your washer has a clean cycle on it we recommend using that every 3 months.

Do appliance warranties cover all repairs?

Your owners manual that came with your machine will let you know whats covered and not covered. Be aware most factory warranties only cover for one year unless stated differently in manual.

How often should I have my appliance serviced?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the appliance, with refrigeration it is recommended to have the condenser coils cleaned at least once a year and if you have pets maybe every 6 months. Dryers it is recommended to have the venting cleaned once a year. As far as washers and dishwashers we recommend you call for service when a lack of performance is noticed or strange sounds are heard. If there are user serviceable filters on units, we recommend cleaning those once every 3 months.

Is it worth it to even have my appliance repaired or should I just by a new one?

It depends on the age, the brand and the condition of the unit. Be aware that most new appliances are only made to last around 7 to 10 years. If the appliance is under 7 years old and is in good condition otherwise, then if the repair doesn’t exceed a third of the cost of a new appliance then its worth a repair.

The dishwasher soap door doesn’t open all the time. Do I need a new dispenser?

Allot of times  the pods people use will swell up before the door opens and will cause it to stick to the door and prevent it from opening. Switch to a name brand gel detergent to see if it fixes it.

Question 10

My microwave makes a loud hum and will not heat. Is it worth a repair?

Most of the time this is do to a shorted Mag and it usually is not worth the repair unless this is a combo oven unit.
